How to Get a Weekend Tennis Court in San Francisco

Updated October 2026. Tennis City SF › San Francisco Tennis Guides

To get a weekend court in San Francisco, be on rec.us at 8am exactly 7 days ahead (the previous Saturday for a Saturday court), or try again at noon two days ahead (Thursday for Saturday, Friday for Sunday), when short-notice courts at 20 parks release. Goldman Tennis Center releases at 12:30pm, 8 days ahead for SF residents and 7 for everyone else.

Booking limits

  • rec.us allows one reservation per person per day and three per calendar week. Tip: if you and a partner each have an account, each of you can book one weekend day.
  • Goldman allows one reservation per person per day, and charges the full fee if you cancel less than 4 hours ahead.
  • rec.us cancellation 48 hours ahead (March to November) or 24 hours ahead (December to February) gets a $3 per hour credit, not a refund. Repeated no-shows can lead to suspension.

Rossi Playground weekend pilot

Since a June 2026 pilot, courts 1 and 2 at Angelo J. Rossi Playground in the Inner Richmond are reservable on Saturday and Sunday from 7:30am to 1:30pm and walk-up the rest of the time. Court 3 is reservation-only. After 1:30pm on weekends, courts 1 and 2 are first come, first served.

If you can’t book

  • No-shows: a reserved Rec & Park court that is empty 15 minutes after the start time becomes a walk-up court.
  • Multi-court walk-up sites: Dolores (3 walk-up courts next to 3 reservable), Joe DiMaggio and Alta Plaza (2 walk-up next to 1 reservable), Mission Playground, James Rolph Jr., Margaret S. Hayward, States Street, Peixotto, Golden Gate Heights, West Sunset, Merced Heights, Palega and Youngblood Coleman each have at least two walk-up courts.
  • Walk-up rules: one set or 30 minutes of rallying when others are waiting. See walk-up courts.
