Updated October 2026. Tennis City SF › San Francisco Tennis Courts by Neighborhood
The Lisa & Douglas Goldman Tennis Center is San Francisco’s main public tennis facility, at 50 Bowling Green Drive in the east end of Golden Gate Park. It has 16 lighted tennis courts, 4 mini courts for kids and 1 pickleball court, a pro shop and ball machine rental, and is open 7am to 10pm. SF Rec & Park owns it; Lifetime Activities runs it (415-581-2540).
How booking works
- Courts are booked on CourtReserve, not on rec.us like other city courts.
- San Francisco residents who have filed a residency form can book 8 days ahead; everyone else books 7 days ahead. New days open at 12:30pm.
- Limit: one reservation per day.
- If nobody checks in within 10 minutes of the start, the court can be released.
- Cancel at least 4 hours ahead, or you pay the full fee.
Court fees (2026, per court per hour)
| Non-prime | Prime | |
|---|---|---|
| SF residents | $10 | $12 |
| Non-residents | $16 | $20 |
Prime time is weekdays after 3pm and all day on weekends. Fees are from the Lifetime Activities fee schedule; check CourtReserve for current prices.

See the fall adult tennis schedule and round robin schedule (PDFs). Round robins are an easy way to meet players at your level; see lessons and clinics for other options.
Community events
Tennis Coalition SF holds monthly Community Social Doubles at Goldman ($10, NTRP 3.0 to 4.0, ages 18+) and runs the San Francisco City Championships there each September.
Tips
- Prime evening slots go fast. Be ready when booking opens at 12:30pm.
- Golden Gate Park is cooler and foggier than the Mission or the east side; bring a layer for evening play.
- For free courts nearby, see the other courts in the Inner Sunset and Golden Gate Park.
FAQ
Can I just walk up and play at Goldman?
Only if a court is free; Goldman runs on reservations. Check CourtReserve for open slots before you go, or ask at the front desk.
How do I get the resident rate?
Submit the residency form through Lifetime Activities (ask at the front desk or call 415-581-2540), then book with that account.
Is this the same as the Golden Gate Park tennis courts?
Yes. The old Golden Gate Park tennis complex was rebuilt and reopened as the Goldman Tennis Center in 2021.
