Courts with early-morning notes

  • Presidio Wall Playground: tennis in the early morning, with pickleball lines in use later in the day on a posted schedule. No lights. Courts 1 to 3 release 7 days ahead; court 4 releases 2 days ahead at noon. See Presidio Heights.
  • Moscone Rec Center: high school tennis uses the courts 3 to 6pm in season, so mornings are the easier time there. See Marina.
  • Lighted courts help on winter mornings before sunrise and are listed on lighted tennis courts.

Making a morning slot work

  • Book a week out: most rec.us courts release 7 days ahead at 8am, so a next-morning court usually isn’t available the night before. The 2-day courts release at noon two days ahead.
  • Cancel early if plans change: rec.us gives a $3 per hour credit if you cancel 48 hours ahead (March to November) or 24 hours ahead (December to February). Goldman charges the full fee if you cancel less than 4 hours ahead.
  • Arrive on time: a rec.us court empty 15 minutes after the start becomes walk-up, and Goldman forfeits a court after 10 minutes.
  • Check the wind: mornings are often calmer than afternoons. See wind and fog.
